How the Shower Box came about:

On September 28th, my hometown of Asheville, NC was hit by Hurricane Helene. It wreaked havoc upon Western North Carolina and was the biggest flood in recorded history for this area. As a result of water flow, mudslides revealed and permanently damaged main water lines as well as treatment plant. This directly impacted residents in Asheville causing a majority to be without water entirely for the month of October. As a result residents were unable to use their showers. Let me tell you, after a week without a shower, lets just say you wouldn’t want to be standing too close to your neighbor. I had an idea to build a hot shower into a truck bed toolbox and voila the Shower Box was born. Everyone was surviving off of bottled water and without a water source it would’ve been impossible to run the shower box. So with that in mind I built the shower box with a two stage filter so that it could be refilled from the murky sediment filled river water and purified allowing as many showers as your water source could provide irrespective of whether or not its potable. I can’t tell you how many people I gave showers too it must’ve been more than two dozen. Many couldn’t leave their homes for medical reasons or fear of looting. If you’ve ever gone a week without a shower let me tell you, that first hot shower is such a moral booster. And with everything the residents of WNC had been through I could tell I was making a huge positive impact. By the end of October most residents had gotten water back (although it wouldn’t be drinkable until mid November). For the first time since the disaster I did some overlanding in Pisgah National Forest with the shower box and roof top tent in my Rivian. I filled up the shower box with nice clean but not potable river water and prepared to take my first shower for “fun”. It was in this moment I realized that other overlanding enthusiasts might be interested in the shower box as it has the capability to provide limitless hot showers in the backwoods. The kit comes with everything you need to take hot showers in the backwoods, all you need is a 120v 15amp outlet which every EV truck is equipped with from the factory and even some ICE vehicles as well. If you camp at campsites or have your own generator capable of producing this power, you could run the shower box out of any truck. You can also buy the solar generator kit on our website which will power the box for hours off of a full day of sun. This generator can also receive a full charge off of the 12v built into your vehicle for those rainy days.
